New Year...New Goals

I Know that we have been slacking on the Rebel Rant posts, but this is a new year.
we are going to make an extended effort to put up at least 3 new posts a week.

New Years Resolutions that nobody keeps are getting super old. What I am doing and would recommend to anny body who really wants to make a change this year is to outline a action plan with somebody that you are close to. Put all of your goals and resolutions on it. Be sure to print multiple copies and put them in different locations that you will see it through out the day. It is important to do it with somebody that you are close to so that they can help to keep you in check. It will never be easy to start doing something different or to break an old habit, but with the proper support and dedication anything is possible.

Switching Majors

Switching Majors is a normal thing when it comes to college life. I have only been here for a month And have contemplated switching majors at least 6 different times already. It is a fact that at any given college 4 out of 5 student will change majors at least once during there college career.
My advice on switching majors would be to study up on the new major that you are interested in getting involved in, and make sure that is what you want to do. Dot just change because that is what your roommate is doing. And also don't get in the habit of changing majors like you change socks. Or else you will end up like the guy in my architecture class who is 32 and has been at UNLV science he was 18. That just sucks.

Microwave Recipes

ATTENTION: Starving Rebels

Now that I am living on campus, I understand more than ever the value of a microwave. Sure the Student Union has some good food, but they also have odd hours and Dinning Dollars don't last forever. And yea the dinning commons aren't to bad....... but sometimes you just need a meal in between meals or something quick so you can optimize your study time.

So, here are some excellent microwave meal ideas

Cheezy Ritz Cracker Meltz:

Ingredients
5 Ritz crackers or Ritz honey butter crackers
5 slices kraft cracker cuts sharp cheddar cheese
2 1/2 teaspoons chopped walnuts or pecans

Directions
1Top crackers with cheese and then the walnuts or pecans.
2Place on microwaveable plate.
3Microwave on high for 10 seconds or until cheese is melted.
4Enjoy!

Spicy Bean "quesadillas"

Ingredients
2 ounces kraft 2% cheddar cheese
24 Triscuit crackers
1/4 cup refried beans
1/4 cup Thick and chunky salsa of your choice
Black Olives (optional)
reduced-fat sour cream (optional)

Directions
1Cut cheese into 6 slices; cut each slice crosswise in half. Top each of 12 crackers with 1 teaspoon beans, 1 piece cheese and 1 teaspoon salsa. Cover with remaining crackers.
2Place 6 topped crackers on microwaveable plate. Microwave on high 10 to 15 seconds or until cheese is melted. Repeat with remaining crackers.
3Jazz it up: garnish with black olive slices and reduced fat sour cream.

For Desert:

S'mores Clusters

Ingredients
6 chocolate candy bars
2 cups mini marshmellows
8 coarsely chopped graham crackers

Directions
1Break and heat 6 milk-chocolate bars in the microwave.
2Stir in 2 cups of mini-marshmallows and 8 coarsely chopped graham crackers.
3Drop spoonfuls of the mix into miniature paper muffin cups.
4Cover and refrigerate until firm.

For real, get over the easy mac, get over to vons, get the ingediants, and try these recipes out.

An't that a BITCH!!!!

So, yesteday I wanted to get some food from Dell Taco. As I was walking out of Tonapah something odd struck me......MY BIKE WAS GONE!!!!!! I was just a little bit more pissed off at the fact that who ever jacked my bike decided to leave my now severed Kevlar/Titanium/Teflon bike-lock hanging on the rack just to rub it in my face. The worst part about this event is that my cousin custom built that bike for me as a going to college present. So if anybody sees a Black robinson bike with 5-spoke mags and all GT parts. Hit me up: jhunter@synctree.com or shortbus810@yahoo.com (or just snatch that shit back for me)

WRAP IT UP REBELS!!!

College is a time when students start to explore and flourish sexually (no homo). Being sexually active is always fun and exciting but here are some surprising stats that college students might want to know before you decide to "bump and grind" again.

STDs
  • over the next 4 to 5 years: 85% of us will earn a college degree, and 25% will contract an STD
  • 63% of all STD cases occur among people less than 25 years of age
  • 24 million new cases of human papilloma virus (HPV) occur every year, including the highest percentage among college students.
  • 66% of chlamydia, syphilis and gonorrhea infections occur in during college

PREGNANCY
  • Approximately 2 out of 5 young women in the U.S. become pregnant at least once before turning 20 years old.
  • Condoms, the most common form of contraceptive, can still have up to a 13% failure rate.
  • "The Pill" the 2nd most common form of contraceptive among college students, has up to a 7% failure rate
The decisions that you make now will shape the rest of your life. Your decision to go to college was one of the best decisions that you have ever made. Don't let one stupid decision like having unprotected sex ruin your whole college experience. As many of you know sex is one of the most exciting experiences that you can have during your lifetime, but as some of you already know and some of you will soon learn, an STD or an unplanned pregnancy can be one of the worst experiences that can change your entire life.

I am not saying that we all must be sexless during our college career, but I would encourage that we all make smart and sound decisions about our sexuality.
